Osteopathy is concerned with the balance of the body and its stable movement.
The goal of the osteopath is to understand where the dysfunction is presented by the baby and the reason of his appearance.
Afterwards, the osteopath will implement a treatment plan using only the hands (through a soft manual therapy), allowing the body to overcome its malfunction.
Mechanical disorders have a profound effect on the functioning of all systems of the body, where they are important not only in the case of spinal pains as in the limbs.
In infants and children is especially important to pay attention to the body as a whole, not only for immediate action when there is a pain, but also encouraging the body to a medium and long-term health, and the thought of osteopath on elimination of momentary dysfunctions that can create imbalance in the future.
The treatment in osteopathy
Osteopathic treatment is, by definition, manual. In young patients the methods used are always very soft, yet powerful techniques that require experience, ability and a very comprehensive knowledge in terms of Anatomy, Physiology, Neurology, biomechanics, semiology, among many other areas.
In which situations the osteopath can help?
Above all the osteopathy does not treat diseases, but people. This means that a pathology in 10, 20 or 30 babies or children may have very different manifestations, different behaviors, patterns of disorder and therefore necessarily different treatment techniques.
However, the pediatric osteopathy can intervene in many of the following disorders:
-Changes in the shape of the skull (plagiocephaly and brachycephaly);
-Reflux, colic, constipation and diarrhea;
-General Agitation and sleep disorders;
-Otitis, sinusitis, rhinitis and asthma;
-Scoliosis, whiplash and spinal disorders;
-Suction disturbances, difficulty in concentration and hyperactivity.
